While we are happy to provide you with a receipt to submit to your insurance, our clinic does not file insurance for our patients. Some patients use a flexible spending (FSA) or health savings (HSA) account to cover their weight loss services. We also accept cash, credit cards, CareCredit, and Healthcare Financing of America as payment.
Each weight loss program is customized for each patient based on various factors such as how much weight loss is desired, food preferences, current lifestyle, and other medical conditions. The amount of time it takes you to lose weight through medical weight loss depends on several factors. Many patients start losing weight within the first week and will continue to reduce their weight through our weight-loss programs. Weekly weight loss varies based on each patient’s unique physiology, but our patients typically lose 2-5 pounds per week*.

The length of time you are enrolled in our weight loss program will depend on the program, how much weight you are trying to lose, and how motivated you are. Weight loss is not a quick fix, so it becomes a lifelong maintenance program for many patients. We want to help you see results quickly, but you won’t be able to go back to your old lifestyle if you want to keep the weight off.
We recommend weekly visits for any program you choose, including one-on-one behavioral modification counseling. We also offer virtual visits for our patients who live outside of our area.

AquaFirme is a versatile device that provides multiple treatments combined in one. The key steps in an AquaFirme treatment are cleansing, purifying, and nourishing. The EXO2 uses the power of CO2 microdermabrasion to oxygenate, hydrate, and nourish your skin with specially formulated serums.
You can start AquaFirme facials at any age. After all, it’s never too early to look your best. Getting AquaFirme facials in your 20s can help to protect your skin from environmental and sun damage. Older individuals in their 30s, 40s, and beyond can reverse some of the visible signs of aging with AquaFirme treatments. Keep in mind that anyone under the age of 18 years needs a guardian’s consent to undergo a cosmetic treatment such as AquaFirme.
The overall treatment duration ranges from 30 to 75 minutes, depending on the part of the body being treated. For example, a facial brightening treatment can take 45 minutes. A Signature AquaFirme treatment can take 60-75 minutes.

Botox is a neurotoxin (a form of botulinum toxin type A) that is injected into targeted treatment areas using an ultra-fine needle. Botox® works by blocking nerve signals to prevent the muscles in certain areas of the face from contracting, allowing the skin to remain smooth and unwrinkled.
Botox treatments are quick and not considered painful. Most patients say they experience minimal discomfort during the injection process but that it does not continue after the completion of the procedure. Because Botox treatment requires no anesthesia or recovery time, some patients even schedule appointments for Botox injections during their lunch hour and are able to return to work right after their appointment.
Each patient is different, but most will typically begin to notice results gradually between 3-7 days after receiving injections. For some, it may take up to 2 weeks to realize the final effects.
The outcome will vary from person to person, but typically you can expect the results of Botox to last from three to six months. The location of the injection and the amount used are the biggest factors that may affect how long it lasts. Other factors include your age, the elasticity of your skin, and wrinkle depth. Over time, when facial muscles aren’t used, they eventually get shorter and smaller, so regular use of Botox may extend the results for longer periods of time.
Many patients wonder if they are too young or too old to try Botox. Some begin treatment as a preventative measure at the first site of lines and wrinkles. Others wait until later in life when these expression lines become more prominent. To determine if you may benefit from Botox treatment, it’s best first to schedule a consultation with a licensed professional.
Botox is FDA-approved as a safe treatment for reversing lines and wrinkles. However, patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have certain neurological diseases should not receive Botox treatments.
As with any procedure, whether medical or cosmetic, there is always a risk of side effects. Some patients may experience bruising, swelling, redness, or tenderness around the injection site. These side effects resolve on their own within a few days or up to a week following Botox treatment.
Your provider may advise you not to consume alcohol or cease taking certain medications or supplements in the week prior to your treatment, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, Gingko Biloba, or Ginseng, which are known to thin the blood. This will help minimize the potential side effects listed above.
Dermal fillers are biocompatible, injectable substances that create lift, add volume, and restore a more youthful appearance to certain areas of the face that show signs of aging.
The most common fillers are made of a soft gel consisting of non-animal hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that naturally occurs in the human body, and it is found in our skin. It helps hydrate and adds volume to the skin. It is naturally broken down by our own bodies. Dermal fillers consisting of hyaluronic acid include Restylane, Juvederm, Voluma, and Belotero.
Other fillers, such as Radiesse, consist of synthetic calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in an aqueous gel. Calcium hydroxylapatite is a natural mineral component found in bone. These microspheres stimulate your own collagen. Over time, the body degrades the calcium hydroxylapatite and gel, leaving behind your natural collagen.
Sculptra is made of a synthetic of lactic acid, called poly-l-lactic acid or PLLA. Lactic acid is also naturally occurring in our muscles after exercise. PLLA contains no animal products, and it is naturally degraded by our body’s own enzymes. It stimulates growth of the body’s natural collagen, and the results can be long lasting.
As we age, we lose volume in key areas of the face. This contributes to folds, wrinkles, hollow temples, thinning lips, sunken eyes, and an older appearance to the face. Fillers can be used to restore this volume loss, smooth out folds and wrinkles, and improve contours to achieve natural results without altering facial expression. Certain fillers can also be used to correct scars.
The effects are long-lasting but not permanent. They last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years, depending on a number of factors including the patient’s age, area treated, type of filler used, quantity of filler used, and lifestyle.
Most patients experience only mild discomfort. A local anesthetic cream can be applied to the skin prior to the treatment for a more comfortable experience. Many of our fillers are also formulated with lidocaine to help minimize discomfort.
No! You can go right back to your normal routine. However, I always advise my patients that they may have some bruising or swelling, so it is best not to schedule a filler appointment right before any important event.
In general, dermal fillers are considered very safe. The most common reactions are redness, swelling, bruising, itching, and tenderness. These are typically mild and resolve spontaneously in 1-7 days for most patients. Other side effects are very rare.
When fillers are used in the appropriate amount and placed in the right location, the result is a beautiful, natural, youthful outcome. Fillers are not meant to create totally different features. In the hands of an experienced provider that has extensive knowledge of facial anatomy, the outcome simply enhances one’s own facial features.
The choice of filler depends on the individual patient, their treatment goals, and personal facial anatomy. We recommend booking a consultation to discuss these things with your provider.
Your skin will be thoroughly cleansed and a topical local anesthetic cream will be applied to the area being treated. This is left on for around 20 minutes to take effect. The cream is removed and the needling starts, which can take anything from 10 to 30 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated. The roller is repeatedly rolled over the skin to produce thousands of micro-medical needle-columns in the skin. Each column will penetrate into the dermis of the skin and will be approximately 0.1mm in width. The column will close rapidly enabling the skin to recover quickly – often in the same day. The treated skin will show micro bleeding and this is the required end point of the treatment. The skin will be cleansed following the treatment, and the appropriate skin care applied, enabling the products to sink deep into the dermal layers.
Immediately following the treatment you will look red, resembling moderate sunburn. The skin will feel warm and slightly tight. This will normally reduce within the same day, with only slight redness the following day. You can return to most normal activities that day.
While microneedling can sound rather daunting, the needles that we use during the procedure are microscopic. The treatment can cause discomfort and has been said to feel like a vibrating cats tongue. Areas with deeper imperfections may cause more discomfort than areas with superficial imperfections. We ensure that our patients are comfortable throughout the entire procedure. A topical numbing agent is applied 30 minutes prior to Microneedling to aid any discomfort during the procedure.
Generally, patients notice tightening, and a more even tone to their skin, a week or two after their first session. For areas with deeper imperfections, results can be subtler, and additional treatments are usually required. Since Microneedling stimulates new collagen and elastin production, these results will continue to build for up to 6 months.
It is important to realize that we cannot stop the aging process, we can only slow it down. With this in mind, results are not considered permanent, as natural degradation will occur over time. Improvements from microneedling can be seen for several years after treatment, and results can be prolonged with the correct at home skincare maintenance.
This will be dependent on a number of factors including age, area being treated, skin condition and damage. In most cases it is usually a course of either 3 or 6 treatments, generally spaced between 4 and 8 weeks apart. It is recommended a one-off treatment is performed every 6 months to maintain the effects.
Microneedling can essentially be used on any part of the body. The most popular areas to treat are the face, neck, and chest. Microneedling can also be effective on most types of scarring and stretch marks.
There is technically no downtime required after Microneedling. After your treatment, your skin may be red. This is normal and to be expected. Redness usually lasts from one to 24 hours. You may also have a little swelling in some areas. A few days after your treatment your skin may become dry. Some patients go straight back to work, while others prefer to schedule their treatment over the weekend.
Microneedling is safe, with minimal side effects or risks associated. The skin will be red in appearance for a couple of hours following microneedling treatment, much like moderate sunburn, with some minor bleeding and bruising possible. The area will feel warm, dry or tight for a short while. Other side effects typically include minor flaking or dryness of the skin, with scab formation in rare cases. If you have a history of cold sores, this could possibly flare up after treatment.
Microneedling is suitable for most skin types, however, it is not suitable for clients who:
- Have used Roaccutane (isotretinoin) within the last 6 months.
- Have open wounds, cuts or abrasions to the skin.
- Have had radiation treatment within the last year.
- Have a current outbreak of herpes simplex (cold sores) active acne, or any other infection or chronic skin condition in the area to be treated.
- Have areas of the skin that are numb or lack sensation.
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Have a history of keloid or hypertrophic scars or poor wound healing.
It takes a minimum of 2 treatments to appreciate any results. Most patients will achieve their desired results within 3 months after their 3rd or 4th treatment though up to 6 treatments may be administered. Treatments are performed 4 to 8 weeks apart. It is possible that you will not see improvement despite multiple treatments due to your underlying anatomy, skin tone or other factors.
The improvement in the submental area is very long lasting and retreatment is not expected. Normal aging changes in the skin and other tissues of the neck will continue to occur however. Though the treated fat cells are destroyed and replaced by collagen, a small amount is left behind. If you gain a great deal of weight, the remaining fat cells may expand giving a full appearance.
All patients should expect swelling in the treated area. This is worse when treating the submental area, but less dramatic when treating jowls. This is most dramatic in the first 3 days after the first procedure. Subsequent treatments generally result in significantly less swelling. Swelling will steadily decrease but may still be noticeable at a month post treatment. Tenderness, discomfort and numbness in the treated area is very common and can last weeks. Redness and firmness in the area is also common. Bruising is possible and will generally resolve in a week.
Difficulty swallowing can occur generally lasting for a few days post treatment and is thought to be due to swelling of the area. A “pins and needles” sensation, itching, skin tightness, headache, nausea, discoloration of the skin, swollen glands, hives in the area, and neck or throat pain, ulceration of small areas of the skin have also been reported. An uncommon side effect is temporary injury to the marginal mandibular nerve resulting in an asymmetrical smile lasting an average of 6 weeks. No cases of this side effect were permanent. In the beard area of men injections could cause small patches of hair loss in the treatment area.
You may not be treated if:
- You are pregnant or nursing.
- You have difficulty swallowing.
- You have nerve injury or weakness in the lower face.
- You have an infection in the area.
Inform your provider if:
- You are on blood thinners.
- You have had procedures or surgery of your lower face or neck.
You and your provider will customize your KYBELLA® treatment regimen, including how many treatments you need, based on your desired chin profile. Many patients experience visible results in 2 to 4 treatment sessions. During these sessions, your HCP will administer KYBELLA® into the fat under your chin using multiple injections. Up to 6 treatment sessions may be administered spaced no less than one month apart.
In clinical studies, results for KYBELLA®-treated patients who had a ≥1-grade composite improvement were 8% (1 treatment), 28% (2 treatments), 43% (3 treatments), 55% (4 treatments), 66% (5 treatments) and 72% (6 treatments)

The FDA approved area for the use of Kybella™ is the subcutaneous fat in the submental region, or the area under the chin known as the “double chin” region.
Downtime with Kybella is minimal. Most patients tolerate this procedure very well. As with any injection, there is always a risk of some swelling and tenderness to the touch, that is generally dependent on the amount of subcutaneous fat that was treated. This is typically resolves in 7-10 days. Other side effects can include bruising and temporary numbness.
Most patients tolerate the procedure very well. There is a slight burning sensation that occurs during the injection process, and for about 10 minutes after the procedure as the medication destroys the fat cells. Then the treated area is usually slightly tender to the touch for a few days to a few weeks.
The actual treatment is usually completed in approximately 15-20 minutes. However, we do apply a topical anesthetic on the treatment area prior to the procedure. So, the entire time in the office is typically 30-45 minutes.
- To minimize potential bruising, discontinue aspirin for 7 days, ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), other non-steroidal medications (Aleve) and Vitamin E for 5 days prior to the procedure. If you have been prescribed one of these medications, ask your doctor before you stop taking it.
- Tylenol will not cause bruising and is preferred for the week prior to treatment.
- Plan your procedure so that you can have 4-5 full days before returning to work or important social engagements. Have a scarf or other neck covering available to camouflage swelling and bruising.
- Have ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil) and Zyrtec (an antihistamine) available at home for discomfort and itching that may result from the procedure.
- You may elect to ice the area post-treatment but must do so very carefully. Use an ice pack with the fabric side against the skin, or wrap a soft plastic ice pack in a wet thin towel. Apply the ice pack approximately 15 seconds on, and 15 seconds off. Icing too vigorously can cause frostbite and scarring.
- Sleep with your head elevated on at least 2 and preferably 3 pillows for 1-2 nights.
- Do not scratch, pick or traumatize the area in any way. You may apply your normal moisturizer and sunscreen normally.
- Call us if you have any difficulty swallowing, crusting or scabbing, asymmetry of your smile or any other unusual symptoms.
The treatment creates heated columns in the skin that stimulate the body’s healing processes, part of which involves collagen production around the treated areas. This collagen stimulation strengthens the dermis and softens the highs & lows of the skin, i.e. wrinkles or acne scars.
Laser skin resurfacing can be combined with other cosmetic procedures to help reach your skin rejuvenation goals. Treatment with topical retinoids is recommended to maintain the results from your laser skin resurfacing treatment. Also, Botox and dermal filler treatments can be incorporated to address wrinkles and volume loss to the face. Depending on your individual goals, our providers can design a treatment plan to best address your needs.
Patients should expect to be in the office for about 1 hour for the treatment. While the actual treatment itself only lasts for about 20 minutes, between checking in, going over treatment consents, and icing your skin post-treatment, patients will be in the office for about 1 hour.
Immediately post-treatment, your skin will appear swollen and red, and you will feel tightness of the skin. It is recommended that you ice the treated area for 30 minutes following the treatment. Glycolic, salicylic acid, and topical vitamin A derivative creams will need to be avoided for 2-3 days. You should only wash with cold or warm water for 2-3 as well, as hot water should be avoided on the treated area. Around 3 days after the treatment, your skin may feel very dry, so we suggest using a hydrating moisturizer that won’t cause any irritations. In 1-2 weeks, patients should expect the treated area to be fully healed.
We typically recommend a series of 3 treatments spaced 1 month apart. Each treatment builds on itself. You will continue to see improvement for a few months after the 3rd treatment. If patients take care of their skin by using sunscreen and keeping up the results with topical retinoids, the effects of the treatment can be extended. Often we will recommend coming in for a maintenance treatment once a year for touch-up treatments. We are constantly aging, so with any type of anti-aging treatment there will be maintenance required to keep up the results.
Acne scars and large pores can both be improved with laser resurfacing. Acne scars can range in appearance. Most commonly they are raised red or pink scars, small holes in the skin that are known as “ice pick” scars, or as depressed or uneven areas of the face. The downtime involved is short, as lasers resurface scars gradually.
Large pores can also be improved with this type of laser skin resurfacing. With the increase in collagen production, pore visibility can be decreased. This outcome may be subtle, so patients should discuss their goals with their provider to determine whether this treatment will provide the desired level of improvement.
For patients looking to treat the visible signs of photodamage such as dark spots, irregular pigmentation, and redness, we recommend Intense Pulsed Light treatments, also referred to as IPL. IPL is used to treat brown spots and redness on the face, neck, and chest.
The procedure feels like warm pinpricks on the skin and your face will feel very warm. The procedure is typically well tolerated.
Patients can experience some minor redness and swelling post-treatment. Some patients can also experience mild acne breakouts post-treatment.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a non-laser therapy that involves shining highly concentrated and intense beams of light intermittently on the surface of the skin. Photo refers to the beam of light, and facial refers to the face and/or neck region. The pulses of light target pigment and vascular irregularities, smoothing out the skin’s tone and texture.
IPL therapy helps to reduce the effects of aging, leaving clients with younger, clearer, and healthier-looking skin. It is not to be confused with laser therapy. Whereas laser therapy uses one particular wavelength of light, IPL therapy produces a spectrum of light.
Yes, it is. When performed correctly by a certified, experienced technician, IPL Photofacial therapy is both safe and effective.
As a professional medial spa, we will not perform any procedures without first assessing: your complete medical history; your current health condition; and any potential you may have for complications. Additionally, we provide all clients with protective eyewear that must be worn during treatment.
Most clients liken IPL to the gentle snap of an elastic band against the skin. Others experience it as a very short pinprick. While no anesthetic is required, we do cool the skin, which helps to minimize any discomfort.
IPL Photofacial treatments require no anesthetic and they involve little or no downtime. As few as one or two treatments can reduce spots, smooth uneven pigmentation, help repair broken facial capillaries and veins, and reduce the redness associated with rosacea. Additional treatments will continue to improve tone, texture, and stimulate the dermis to produce more collagen.
By definition, IPL therapy involves short, intense pulses of light being delivered to the skin. As a result, you may experience small raised bumps and redness in the treatment area shortly after your treatment. This will subside in a few days and is no cause for alarm.
A typical treatment can last anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes. Because there is little or no downtime, you can have an IPL Photofacial during your lunch break.
The ideal number of treatments will depend upon your skin and the issues you wish to address. We usually book a series of five treatments for you to achieve optimum results.
- Avoid the use of Accutane for six months.
- Avoid natural and artificial tanning—including self-tanner and spray tans—for a minimum of four weeks.
- Discontinue the use of Retin-A, Retinol, glycolics, bleaching creams, and exfoliants on treatment area one week prior.
- Shave any hair present in the treatment area. Men should shave twice to ensure the hair is as short as possible.
- Gently cleanse the area, removing all makeup and lotions.
- Do not apply any products except for a topical anesthetic if you are using one.
- For treatment of pigmented lesions, consult your physician if there is a family history of skin cancer or other genetic diseases.
- Avoid activities that induce excessive sweating—hot tubs, saunas, hot showers, whirlpools, and vigorous workouts—for one to two days.
- Apply a cold compress—not ice—to help reduce redness and swelling.
- Do not pick or scratch any darkened, pigmented areas that begin to flake.
- Avoid natural and artificial tanning—including self-tanner and spray tans—for a minimum of four weeks.
- Apply a minimum SPF 45 (UVA/UVB) sunblock every two hours during sun exposure up to eight weeks.
- Apply antibiotic ointment if skin is broken or blistering.
- Use gentle cleansers with lukewarm water. Do not rub skin vigorously. Moisturizer may be applied.
For most people, laser hair removal does not hurt. However, it all depends on your threshold for pain. Most people say that it feels like snapping a rubber band against the skin. But if you’re overly sensitive to pain, you may experience some minor discomfort.
Fortunately, there are ways to reduce the discomfort. Prepare properly and follow a strict aftercare program. This will reduce pain and provide the most effective results.
The answer is yes. The U.S Food and Drug Administration approved it as a safe method for hair removal in 1997. However, laser hair removal is only safe when a licensed technician performs the procedure.
Laser hair removal involves the use of laser pulses. These pulses emit light into the skin that destroys the root and follicle of the hair. When the root and follicle are destroyed, hair can no longer grow. For this process to work, the hair must be targeted during an active growth phase. However, individual hairs usually grow at different rates. Therefore, it takes several treatment sessions to capture every hair in the growth phase and produce optimal results.
Some people see permanent results, while some people may need a touch-up treatment every six to twelve months. Results vary depending on your hair type and skin type. Proper preparation and aftercare can also affect how long the results last.
There is no specific age minimum, but it is important to wait until you’ve gone through puberty to begin laser treatments. Females should not begin treatment unless they’ve already started their menstrual cycle. Generally, fourteen is the earliest age that people should begin laser hair removal.
To prepare for laser hair removal, avoid plucking, waxing, and tanning for six weeks prior to your first treatment. In the days before treatment, avoid taking medications such as blood thinners, NSAIDs, and pain relievers. Take a shower and shave right before your treatment, but don’t apply any lotions, moisturizers, or sunscreens to the skin.
It is best to play it safe and avoid laser hair removal while you’re pregnant. There is no evidence to suggest that it is unsafe, but there have not been long-term studies to analyze the effect of the laser on an unborn child. To protect your unborn baby, wait until after you’ve given birth to begin laser hair removal treatment.
Laser removal can be performed on any area of the body except the eyelids. The most popular treatment areas are the legs, back, arms, chest, upper lip, underarms, and bikini area. You can also get laser hair removal on your ears, nose, scalp, forehead, eyebrows, and other parts of your face.
Anyone can get laser hair removal, regardless of skin color or hair type. However, people with light skin and dark hair tend to see faster and better results than people with light hair or a darker skin tone. Any man or woman can have the treatments, though pregnant women should wait until after they’ve given birth to begin their sessions.
The side effects are minimal. This is one of the primary benefits of laser hair removal. Some people experience temporary redness, itching, and swelling of the skin right after treatment. Absolutely! It is a common misconception that women do not have testosterone and men do not have estrogen. Men certainly have more testosterone than women but testosterone is very important for women as well. Many of our patients are still menstruating, but can still benefit from BHRT. You do not have to be post-menopausal to qualify for BHRT.
Most of our patients are over age 35, however, there are some exceptions. The main concern is that you are finished having children as BHRT should not be used in women who are likely to become pregnant. You do not have to wait until menopause to benefit from optimal hormone levels.
