Plasmage® delivers plasma energy to the aimed at by the ionizing of ambient gas in the air. Plasma is delivered through a small probe or applicator. The probe is applied to the surface of the skin without direct contact as the plasma energy creates microinjuries. Because only highly focused dots of energy are applied to the treatment area, the skin undergoes a more rapid healing process. Treatment sessions are relatively short. The procedure typically takes about 15 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated, and the overall treatment visit typically can be done within an hour.

Makeup can be used to cover any redness once the skin has healed; this redness will typically resolve within 2 months.
